HumID DNA archive Kit (See Photos Below)

 IDNA Systems, Inc. specializes in DNA sampling and Human Identification by DNA analysis.  We are making our DNA collection kit available to individuals who would like to have a clean sample of their own DNA in the event such a sample is ever needed for identification purposes.  In the event of a disaster, missing person, foul play or some other undesirable event, you will have a clean sample of your DNA available for profiling.  Our DNA Archive Kit comes with all of the material you need to collect a DNA specimen that you can archive.  Our kits are supplied sterile, sealed and individually packaged so there is no other DNA around, except for the DNA you collect.

We provide you with a storage pouch for the sample and a recent photo that can be updated.  An Archive Record booklet is included in which other types of information can be archived to build an identification profile.  The basis of the kit is the use of a special membrane (FTA card) that laboratory professionals use because it imparts extraordinary stability to the DNA specimen on the order of at least 15-20 years.

Having a personal DNA sample of yourself and your family members is kind of like insurance.  It is really good to have when you really need it.  It remains in your possession until you need to have the sample analyzed.

What is a HumID kit? 

A HumID kit  is a professional kit for isolating and archiving DNA for use in Human IDentification.  A record keeper to record medical and physical information including: Height, weight, hair color, eye color,  blood type, and distinctive features such as scars, tattoos and birthmarks.  Space to attach an up-to-date photograph.

What is involved?

1. A simple swab.  The swab is wiped around the inside of the mouth and cheeks for about 30 seconds. 

2. The swab is then blotted onto an indicating membrane that will turn from pink to white. 

3. When the membrane is dry, you place it into a special envelope provided, seal it and keep it with the Archive Record booklet provided.  There is no freezing required.  The sample is stored at room temperature and is extraordinarily stable.

4.  Fill out the record-keeping sheet to complete the profile of relevant information used in identification. You can keep an updated photograph in the information card with the sample.
